Mitchell’s Background

Mitchell was born and raised just outside of Seattle in Federal Way, WA. His affinity for sports started at a young age when he would tag along with his dad and brother to Mariners’, Seahawks’, and Sonics’ games. Although he wasn’t old enough to occupy his own seat at some of the events, he still takes pride in being present at some of Seattle sport’s biggest moments including the Mariners’ miraculous run in 1995, the Sonics’ finals match up with Michael Jordan and the Bulls in 1996, and later on the Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory to crown them the 2013 NFL champions. As Mitchell grew older his passion for the sports world hasn’t wavered whether that was competing throughout high school, or when his athletic prowess hit its peak, pivoting to diving deeper into individual sports and learning the ins and outs of the game including statistical analysis and player analysis.

In addition to his obvious passion for sports, Mitchell has taken on philanthropic pursuits for causes that he holds dear such as joining the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center on their climb to fight cancer. In 2018 the team looked to summit Mt. Hood in Oregon before being turned around due to weather that refused to cooperate. While not being able to summit was a massive disappointment, the team was able to raise tens of thousands for cancer research. Mitchell looks to continue to participate in climbs and other Fred Hutch activities going forward.
